Website creation process

Introducing the Holum Studio website creation process , a highly effective approach to creating excellent websites quickly and easily

Initial Contact

The process begins when the client initiates contact through our online forms or via email, expressing their interest and outlining their project requirements.

Scope Call

Upon receiving the client's initial message, our studio will promptly schedule a scope call. During this call, the studio and the client will engage in a detailed discussion about the project.

The key elements to be covered include:

  • Client's specific needs and expectations

  • Project scope and objectives

  • Project timeline and deadlines

  • Deliverables and project goals

  • Potential creative approaches

  • Pricing and budget considerations

Confirmation

Following the scope call, both the studio and the client will confirm and align on the project's scope, timeline, and pricing.

Initial Payment

To initiate the project, the client is required to make an initial payment equivalent to 50% of the total project cost.

The successful completion of this payment marks the official confirmation of the project.

Briefing

Upon confirming the project's initiation, the subsequent phase involves the essential step of Briefing. The studio, following the confirmed scope agreed upon, proceeds to request a comprehensive project brief from the client. This pivotal document serves as the compass guiding the design process, encapsulating crucial elements that shape the trajectory of the brand's visual identity.

The requested brief is flexible in format, allowing the client to present the information in a manner that aligns with their preferences. It can be structured as a well-organized presentation, a detailed document, or a concise yet informative email. Regardless of the chosen format, the emphasis lies in encapsulating vital aspects essential for the design direction and brand conceptualization.

Text brief outlining project specifics

A detailed narrative or description outlining the objectives, mission, and specific goals of the project.

Information about the client's industry

Insight into the industry in which the client operates, offering a contextual understanding of their market landscape and target audience.

Description of the client's business nature

A comprehensive overview of the client's business, including its ethos, values, and unique selling propositions.

Internal references related to the project

The client is expected to select up to three references from our portfolio.

Our top squarespace websites can be found here.

External references, which include examples from other websites

External influences, such as industry benchmarks or other visual references, that the client wishes to draw inspiration from or align with.

Additional References

Furthermore, the client is urged to delve deeper into their preferences by creating a mood board on platforms like Pinterest. This mood board functions as a visual collage, capturing and conveying the client's stylistic preferences, helping to refine the design direction.

Design typically fall into one of these categories:

  • Elegant and sophisticated

  • Corporate and minimal

  • Futuristic & technological

  • Cool & contemporary

The completed and confirmed brief then serves as the gateway to the design process, enabling Holum Studio's designers to embark on creating a brand identity that harmonizes with the client's aspirations, industry standards, and resonates with their intended audience.

Sitemap

A site map for a website is a visual representation or hierarchical structure that outlines the organization and structure of a website's content. It serves as a blueprint or roadmap for both website developers and users, providing a clear overview of all the pages, sections, and links within the website, allowing them to understand the relationships between different pages and find the information they are looking for.

Text Delivery

While the designer can handle the design and technical aspects of the website, it's important to note that the written content must be provided by the clients. To ensure that the website accurately reflects the client's vision, it is highly recommended to submit a document with the desired content for the website. This allows the designer to incorporate the text seamlessly into the overall design, creating a website that not only looks visually appealing but also effectively communicates the client's message.

Brief Confirmation

Upon reception and thorough assessment of the client's provided brief, Holum Studio formally acknowledges and confirms its alignment with the established project goals and parameters. This confirmation signifies the green light for the initiation of the design process.

A dedicated designer is meticulously selected and assigned to the project to align with the nuances and demands outlined in the brief. This careful selection ensures an optimal match, leveraging the designer's expertise and style congruent with the client's envisioned direction. Throughout the design journey, the client maintains direct and continuous communication channels not only with the assigned designer but also with the oversight and guidance of the Art Director, allowing for a holistic exchange of ideas, feedback, and strategic insights.

Design Stage

At this stage, the client will have direct communication channels with their dedicated designer and the Art Director. These channels include options like WhatsApp, Slack, Email, or Messenger, tailored to the client's preference. This direct communication ensures a smooth and collaborative design process throughout the project.

Content and Assets

During the project's development, feel free to contribute any content you'd like us to incorporate. These resources play a role in guiding our design process, enabling us to create a tailored result that aligns with your brand.

  • The client may provide us with essential text content, a site map, and images.

Design Options

The studio will present the meticulously designed website design, fostering collaboration between the client and designer for feedback and revisions.

  • Clients are encouraged to suggest changes in specific design elements like fonts, colors, layouts, text, or images, recognizing that design is an iterative process aimed at achieving the desired outcomes.

  • Active participation from the client, offering insights and information, greatly contributes to the success of the final design. Collaborating ensures the design resonates with the brand and its audience.

First design delivery

The first design delivery of the website is an exciting milestone that provides a clear visual representation of the website's layout, structure, and overall aesthetic. During this stage, clients have the opportunity to review and provide feedback on the design. They can suggest replacements for images or request redesigns of specific sections to better align with their branding or preferences.

Additionally, the initial design delivery serves as a guide for clients to understand the amount and type of text they need to provide. It gives them a clear idea of where the text will be placed and how it will interact with the design elements. This collaborative process ensures that the final website meets the client's expectations and effectively communicates its message to the target audience.

Feedback and revision

We understand that revisions and refinements are necessary to achieve the desired outcome. Our team of skilled professionals will work closely with the client, carefully considering their feedback and incorporating any necessary changes. This collaborative approach ensures that the design evolves and aligns with the client's vision. The revision process continues until the client is fully satisfied with the final design of their website.

Finalization and Delivery

Finalization and Delivery encompass pivotal steps aimed at ensuring a seamless transition from design completion to the operational phase of the website. Upon the client's approval of the website design, the designated designer undertakes crucial tasks to ensure a smooth launch and ongoing support:

Domain connection

The designer facilitates the connection of the website to the designated domain, ensuring that the website is correctly linked to the client's chosen web address. This integration allows the website to be accessible to users via the specified domain.

Website Publishing

Following approval, the designer initiates the publishing process, making the website live and accessible to the public. This involves deploying the finished design onto the web server, making it accessible for visitors to explore and engage with the brand online.

Basic SEO Overhaul

To enhance the website's visibility and searchability, a basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) overhaul is conducted. This involves optimizing key elements such as meta tags, descriptions, and keywords to improve the website's ranking on search engines, making it more discoverable to the target audience.

Support

Post-launch, the designer provides essential ongoing support to address any immediate concerns or modifications required.

Final Payment

The client settles the remaining 50% of the project’s price upon completion and delivery of the website.

The Role Of Color In Website Design

One of the key elements in website design is selecting harmonious color combinations. This is crucial as it greatly enhances the overall appearance of the website. The designer carefully chooses colors that complement each other, creating a visually appealing and cohesive look.

Text Hierarchy

Text hierarchy is another crucial aspect that the designer focuses on. They set up font sizes, spacing, and colors for headers and paragraphs, ensuring that the text is organized in a way that allows for a smooth flow and avoids a cluttered appearance. This attention to detail helps users navigate the website effortlessly and find the information they need without any confusion.

Use of Image

Image selection plays a crucial role in website design as it greatly impacts the overall user experience. When choosing images, it is important to consider factors such as color palette, and brand niche. Colors can evoke specific emotions and convey messages, so selecting images that align with the color scheme of the website can create a cohesive and visually appealing experience. Images also help to establish a connection with the audience and convey the desired message effectively.

Our designers will meticulously select images from sites like Pixabay, Unsplash, Pexels, and Freepik.
